welcome back to msnbc. i m contessa brewer. washington state college student amanda knox was found guilty of murder, convicted of killing her british roommate in italy. the american student s family is mounting an appeal to win back her freedom, reaching out to secretary of state hillary clinton and also their own senator from washington state. secretary clinton has agreed to meet with a senator from knox s home state of washington, maria cantwell. keith miller is in perugia, italy, following the aftermath of this trial. is amanda knox mounting a legal appeal? reporter: yes, absolutely. in fact, her lawyers met with her today. they had a brief discussion. they wouldn t talk to us about the details, but they are already forming the paperwork they need for an appeal. it will take some time, contessa, because first the presiding judge in the case must file his written verdict with the public court. that will take about 90 days.
