inspections and they say there is no way they could handle another spill were there to be one. there s only been one major spill in u.s. coastal water in the 60 years they ve been drilling, one major spill at least but that is their argument. others say this is an overreaction that kills jobs that are desperately needed in the gulf. this will be ultimately decided by the courts. so far the louisiana court has not look favor leon this request by the obama anministration. bret: it appears to be a winning argument if you say, look you wouldn t shut down the entire auto industry because one line of cars has a problem. that seems to have resonated with a judge. reporter: we ve been drilling here for 60 years, it s a bad disaster no doubt. this is the worst one they ve ever had in 60 years. bret: brian, good to see you, thanks. reporter: you bet.

known as the republican party attempting to push the nation back over the economic brink. after several weeks in which new jobless claims stayed steady at 460,000, today the labor department announced new claims had jumped up to 472,000. economists are now bracing for a bad monthly jobs report tomorrow. and yet, somehow senate republicans and nebraska democrat ben nelson teamed up last night to filibuster an extension of unemployment insurance. it s roughly akin to voting against funding for sandbags in the midst of the worst flood in 30 years. after doing it, they left town for recess. this is compassionless and idiotic and terrible macro economic policy. as a recovery tapers off and job growth begins to flat line, we face the real and terrifying possibility of a double dip recession. so far the history of the economic crisis has gone like this. first there was a financial crisis. then things started to go very badly very, very quickly. we were losing 800,000 jobs a month. t
bill: how about bingo and dance classes and continental breakfast on sundays? these are some of the perks which are being offered to illegals at some point in detention centers in places around houston, texas. iowa senator charles grassley, fired up about this and so too is california congressman brian bilbray, chairman of the immigration reform caucus and our guest from the hill. sir, good morning to you. grassley fired off a letter, i m going to read part of that in a moment. just on the surface of this, is this a good idea if it goes forward? i think it s a terrible idea and i think it not only sends a terrible message to those who are thinking of immigrating illegally but sends a message to american citizens across this country that to be illegally in this country you re treated better than if you re a u.s. citizen or illegal immigrant. that this is another step in rewarding the illegal immigration behavior, rather than addressing it as a problem. bill: some people who are in
