you got elected to be mayor of this city. step up and do your job. calling out the mayor after a weekend of gun violence. the community now demanding answers from the city. but first, breaking news in new jersey. a police officer seriously injured in a chain reaction crash that littered a street for blocks. good evening. i m diane macedo in for cindy hsu. a dozen people were hurt when a speeding vehicle went on a collision course at around 8:00 tonight. cbs 2 s hazel sanchez spoke with witnesses. she s live in jersey city with more. police are still here cleaning up what witnesses described as a crazy accident scene. a maroon minivan was speeding down ocean avenue behind me when it slammed in to that silver car you see being towed right now. that started a scary chain of events that left a dozen people hurt including a jersey city police officer who was struck by that silver car while standing on the sidewalk. reporter: witnesses say the driver of this maroon minivan
scene out here. police still trying to figure out and piece together all the different stories they re thorg figure out exactly what happened. they know a vehicle, a black car, pulled up right here about where the police van is standing. the driver got out, may have been wearing black bandana or a mask. and he walked right up to three young men standing in front of that building right there on saratoga avenue, and he fired several shots. there are five shellicates in front of the building casings in front of the building. police trying to figure out the motive and who was being targeted. what we know is that a 21-year- old man was shot shotin the chest shot in the chest. he was killed. an 18-year-old and 20-year-old were hurt in the arms with bullets. they were taken to brookdale hospital and will recover. this happened on saratoga aeven. and avenue. and there were a lot of people on the street when it happened tonight. the three fellows was just sitting in front of t
