A team from a university situated in France led by Jean-Alix Barrat is responsible for these findings. Meteorite found in Sahara desert older than earth s existence.   |  Photo Credit: Twitter Back in 2020, a meteorite had landed in the Sahara Desert in Africa. Now, it has been ascertained that it ages around 4.6 billion years and it predates back to the time before the solar system ever existed.  It is called  Erg Chech 002 , named after the site that is located in Algeria. It was discovered in May 2020 near Bir Ben Takoul in Southern Algeria that is within the Erg Chech sand sea.
