Tenia Nelson Trio - TNT

Consisting of pianist Tenia Nelson, bassist Brendan O’Donoghue and drummer Alex Tripp, The Tenia Nelson Trio just is three talented friends that love to play music together. If “The Tenia Nelson Trio” is a mouthful, you can just call them “TNT” because they’re dynamite. Tenia, Alex, and Brendan are exploring some of the great R&B compositions from the last 60 years in their upcoming show. Prepare to be swept away by songs ranging from the heavyweights of the 70’s, such as Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers, all the way to the modern torch bearers, such as H.E.R. and Jill Scott. And don’t for a second think you’ll leave without hearing the finest grooves that the 80’s has to offer. After hearing their exhilarating jazz arrangements of these R&B hits you’ll understand the way that TNT does that Stevie Wonder and Erykah Badu are worthy successors to the tradition of George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Nat “King” Cole and Sarah Vaughan.

Friel Donates His Works | Irish America

Brian Friel, the Irish playwright who has had a string of successes on Broadway, starting with Tony-winning Dancing at Lughasa (later made into a film starring Meryl Streep), has presented his archived works to the National Library in Ireland. The collection includes manuscripts and early drafts of his 26 plays and correspondence with literary figures such as Seamus Heaney, John McGahern and Brian Moore. Friel said the decision to donate the documents had been a painful one. “But it had got to the stage where their needs were very specific. They wanted a good, dry home, they wanted some warmth, and they wanted a little attention,” he said.
