A life well lived: Character Pat Gleeson to be laid to rest on Monday

THE LATE Pat Gleeson, of Caherdavin and late of Fedamore, had the gift of the gab.
The 77-year-old was ideally suited to his job as a door-to-door salesman in younger life. The well known character loved to spend time time in his garden after he retired.
Although, his son Brendan Gleeson, well-known photographer, said with fondness, He spent more time talking to the neighbours .
Pat will will be laid to rest tomorrow (Monday) after a life well lived. Dad enjoyed his life. He was always with his beloved wife Freda. They were happily married for 52 years. He loved his children and his grandchildren, said Brendan.

The Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival celebrates 32 years this year and it s still going strong. This year features over 40 musicians performing at multiple locations in Paihia and Russell. Topping the bill are the A-team, the old perennials Brendan Duggan, Gray Bartlett, Susan Prentice, Jodi Vaughan and Aly Cook and Eddie Lowe the Midnite Special Band.

FR Brendan Duggan has been on the missions in Ethiopia and Kenya but he is putting down roots in Athea.
The parish priest was gifted a rare monkey puzzle tree which has been planted in front of the church. All it is missing is a member of the simian family.
“We’re looking for a monkey now,” joked Fr Duggan. That would make quite the picture for his nephew and photographer, Brendan Gleeson, who took the image above.

THE COUNTY and city is united in grief at the sudden passing of the definition of a Limerick lady, Celia Gleeson.
The Cappamore native died suddenly at home in O’Connell Avenue on Saturday. Celia (née Duggan) comes from a highly respected east Limerick family. She married into an equally well known family and helped her husband Michael build one of the best known Limerick businesses - Michael Gleeson Shoes.
Celia is sadly missed by her loving husband and her heartbroken children Grainne, John and Dervala, sons-in-law Damian and Patrick, daughter-in-law Stella, her adored grandchildren Deanna, Rian, Sean, Grace, Ava, Lilly-Mae and Mikey, brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces relatives and large circle of friends. One of her brothers is the Athea-based Fr Brendan Duggan.
