Im gröÃten Schwemmland der Erde, dem brasilianischen Pantanal, lebt der König der Papageien: der blaue Hyazinth-Ara. Er ist mit einem Meter Länge der GröÃte und für viele Menschen auch der Schönste. Auf der Farm Barranco Alto macht Anna Bekanntschaft mit einem prächtigen Ara-Pärchen, das hier seit 13 Jahren nistet. Dabei hätte es den Hyazinth-Ara bald nicht mehr gegeben, weil er auf dem Schwarzmarkt für Vogelliebhaber so begehrt war. Dank der Bemühungen von Biologen und Farmbesitzern, die Nistkästen für die Vögel aufhängen, leben im Pantanal inzwischen wieder etwa 6.500 Exemplare. Anna macht sich auf die Suche nach den leuchtend blauen Papageien. Sie beobachtet die Aras auf einem Manduvi-Baum, wo sich Singles einen Partner suchen.
