I want to thank peter for invitinging me here, and ashley for all of the help she provided as i prepared to come and spend this hour with you. Im here to talk about thomas nas and what i want to do is to introduce him to you broadly at first and then talk a little bit more specifically about what the civil war did for thomas nast, because i think that it refined him in ways which were essential to his success later in life.
