Bath City beat Swindon Supermarine 4-0 in Buildbase FA Trophy

Action from Bath City v Swindon Supermarine in the FA Trophy Photo: Steve Brennan SWINDON Supermarine saw their Buildbase FA Trophy campaign come to a shuddering halt on Saturday after a 4-0 defeat by Bath City. The National League South outfit struggled to break Lee Spalding’s men down in a goalless first half before former Swindon Town man, Tom Smith struck twice after the break. Tommy Conway dispatched a penalty to put Bath three goals up, and Tom Richards added a fourth late on. Marine now have until at least January 9 without a game as the Southern League have joined the Northern League and the Isthmian League in opting to continue the suspension of all fixtures.

Following a tight and battling 90 minutes that produced no goals, 34-year-old Martin Horsell was Marine’s hero as he produced three saves throughout a 5-4 success for Lee Spalding’s side. As a result of their shootout win, Marine have booked a second round tie against either Bath City or Chelmsford City - both of National League South - this coming Saturday.
