reporter: he s one of the more than 200 campers accepted this year to rising above disabilities, or r.a.d. camp, an overnight summer camp for children and adults with special needs in southern california. for many it s their first ever camp experience. when campers arrive for their week-long stay, each one is paired with a buddy from the hundreds of staffers on hand. katie webb brundige and meghan clem are the camp s co-founders. it s an amazing opportunity for our campers to have independence, growth, friendship and just fun. i like camp. yeah, it s special. i m so happy i m here. i m so happy. linsey: r.a.d. camp not only provides a new experience for the campers but a much-needed break for caregivers. the camp is staffed around the clock with a medical staff including 38 nurses and 26 medical students who dispense more than 1,000 pills at breakfast alone. volunteers say r.a.d. camp enriches their lives too.
