Rachael Rollins may have just talked her way out of a job at least if Marty Walsh and his friends have anything to say about it. And they do, because one of Marty’s friends just happens to be President Biden, the man who will do the hiring. It is no secret that Walsh, the […]

City Councillor Annissa Essaibi George secured an endorsement on Monday from Boston’s firefighters, who promised in a statement that they “will be heard and celebrated” in an Essaibi George administration.
The sitting at-large councillor, a Dorchester resident, has also received endorsements from former Boston Police Commissioner William Gross and from the Massachusetts Nurses Association.
John Soares, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 718, joined other union leaders at Florian Hall to announce the endorsement, the second that George has collected from the first-responder community during her campaign.
Labor secretary denies he knew about domestic violence allegations against Boston police commissioner he appointed while mayor
Labor Secretary Martin Walsh has denied he was aware of domestic violence allegations against the Boston Police commissioner when he appointed him to that position. Walsh tapped Dennis White for the job shortly after being nominated for labor secretary early this year.
White was put on administrative leave just days after his appointment when past allegations of domestic violence which he has denied surfaced, according to The Boston Globe, which first reported the news.
White’s attorney filed a lawsuit against the city and its acting mayor to prevent White from being fired, arguing Wednesday that his client was denied due process in the action and that “the allegations by his ex-wife from twenty years ago, which were resolved in court in 1999 and known to the City and Boston Police Department throughout the following two decades as he was promoted
Congressman Seth Moulton said U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, the former mayor of Boston, should resign from his post if it turns out he knew about domestic violence allegations facing Boston Police Commissioner Dennis White.
Walsh promoted White to his position in February, only to then place him on leave just days later after decades-old domestic violence accusations against White surfaced.
Walsh repeated this week that he did not know about the allegations before the promotion, but former Boston Police Commissioner William Gross wrote in a court affidavit that Walsh knew.
White denies the claims and is fighting an effort in court to have him fired. White s attorneys argued before a judge Thursday that Acting Mayor Kim Janey, who is running to make her role permanent, lacks the authority to dismiss him and did not give him an adequate opportunity to defend himself against the allegations.
