Huge injection for BCM infrastructure development

Buffalo City Metro council has approved a budget of almost R10bn for the new financial year and dedicated 70% of it towards infrastructure development. BCM fighting losing battle against infrastructure theft and vandalism

Theft and vandalism of crucial infrastructure continues to cost Buffalo City Metro millions, with businesses and residents having to deal with the consequences. “It is so bad that people in their houses can’t sleep if they’ve got copper pipes or any type of cable against their walls. “They [thieves] go into people’s yards and break off their copper pipes,” Schalk van der Sandt, founder of Pefferville-based NGO Friends of Schalk, said.
