OTLEY S independent online shop is proving a huge success and has celebrated its 1500th visitor. ShopOtley - which brings together five of the market town’s best-loved businesses - is in its second month of operation and has seen visits to its site rise by 218 per cent on the first month. The initiative is the brainchild of Tony Garwood, who, with his partner Kay, runs both the O’Deli coffee shop and delicatessen, and O’Fresh, Otley’s only greengrocers, which sources fruit and vegetables daily from the local wholesale market. Tony, who has 25 years of business experience nationally and internationally, is now focused on supporting local retailing, which he believes is on the way back. In Otley, in particular, he believes there is a great range of quality, service focused independent retailers. Some are new and some have decades of tradition, but all have a willingness to innovate and a desire to support the local community through the pandemic and beyond.
