Thomas R. Jones says he usually has a lot to say, but he was close to speechless Friday as a 52-year-old error was corrected.
The Forks Township resident earned the Bronze Star for his service with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He would have to wait until Friday, however, to actually receive the recognition after it was omitted in error on the document discharging him with the rank of sergeant.
“It’s quite an honor,” Jones managed to say Friday during a brief ceremony outside the Forks Township Community Center where he was finally presented with his Bronze Star. “It’s a relief.”
