An Española School District Board discussion about a new Española Valley High School entrance sign devolved to shouting several times, prompting Board President Gilbert Serrano to gavel the Board to silence.
The purchase of a new $64,000 electric marquee was on the Boardâs April 15 agenda and recommended by Superintendent Fred Trujillo.
Trujillo said the old sign was inoperable, prompting two Board members almost simultaneously to say, âeyesore.â
The existing marquee was shot Aug. 12, 2012 and the bullet went through the motherboard rendering all the âmodulesâ useless. Though it was shipped in 2015 to Sarasota, Fla. to be repaired, it hasnât worked correctly since, Trujillo said.
