New york. you look at the scenes out of massachusetts, illinois, california, gavin newsom doing the same thing. it s a state of emergency. there s nothing. there s nothing positive about this for anybody involved here. and this is just a situation that looks to be completely out of control. yeah, i mean, you look at opinion polls and the two issues that are still resonating with voters, obviously the economy and immigration is something high up on voters minds in red states and blue states. it is a problem for these blue state governors. it has actually interestingly, though, there was one report from economists out of new york suggesting that an influx of migrants into some areas of new york has helped boost gdp, which we have seen in other places around the world. if you get immigrants around the world, it boosts gdp in those areas. it s a problem for blue state governors, people are thinking
California, albeit, very different messaging as you ll imagine. the current president, president biden, focused very much on climate change and talking about funding for climate resiliency in some of these coastal areas, that s part of the inflation reduction act, which was part of his signature legislation passed by democrats last august. florida governor ron desantis focused very much on contrasting himself with blue state governors, people like gavin newsom who he s very eager to take on. they released video really slamming gavin newsom, slamming the state of california, and really seeking to draw that contrast between how desantis has led florida and how newsom has led california. that s right in line with what we heard from desantis on the trail. he continues to talk about what he s done in florida and really wants to go after democrats and their leadership nationally, and also in these states versus going after, say, former president trump, his chief rival in that primary contest
