SKOWHEGAN The town’s Blue Star Marker, dedicated in honor members of all military branches, was reinstalled April 7 by community volunteers Melvin Burnham, David McDermott, Jason Frost and Ron Wilbur.
In 2016, the Bloomfield Garden Club raised funds for this marker, located at the Kennebec Banks rest area on U.S. Route 2 east of Skowhegan. Because the finish on the marker deteriorated, it had to be shipped back to the company in Ohio for refinishing. Steve St. Pierre, manager of Skowhegan Hammond Lumber Company, arranged for proper crating as well as shipping and receiving the marker for the club.
