Man, 79, dies in M2 crash near Blue Bell Hill  |  A man has died after a crash on the M2. The 79-year-old was killed in a two-car crash on the motorway yesterday and a woman was seriously injured. The accident on the M2 between Chatham and Gillingham. Picture: Blue Light Media Emergency services were called to the stretch between Junctions 3 and 4 near the Blue Bell Hill junction at 11.28am. A blue Vauxhall Corsa and a white Kia Picanto had collided and a lorry was damaged by debris. The woman remains in Medway Maritime Hospital. Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw either vehicle beforehand, or has dash cam footage.

Linton organist Bob Caudwell dies aged 100  |  A talented organist and much loved choirmaster and centenarian has died. Robert (Bob) Caudwell was well known to worshippers at St Nicholas Church in Linton where he had been the organist for 24 years after seeing the post advertised in the Kent Messenger newspaper. Bob Caudwell was the organist at St Nicholas Church in Linton for 24 years He also helped out at All Saints Church in West Farleigh when they found themselves short-handed. Mr Caudwell, from Blue Bell Hill, Maidstone, was said to be able to play every hymn from memory without music and took pride in only ever missing one rehearsal in his long career.

Big Motoring World overcomes COVID-19 to increase 2020 used car sales

The Canterbury-based independent car retail business, which is also behind the Carzam online retail operation which begun operating late last year, built on a record 2019 by selling more than 22,000 cars last year – up on the 20,404 sold in 2019. And the group was also able to report £11m EBITDA profit in a statement issued this morning (January 29), alongside a turnover down marginally at £295m (2019: £298.9m). Chief executive, Peter Waddell, said: “In Q2 we were the first out there, operating click and collect, but in the face of limited customer interaction, it hampered sales and opportunities to sell value added products.

Founder of the Mickey s Diner restaurant chain dies from Covid  |  Updated: 13:55, 01 February 2021 The businessman who founded the Mickey s Diner restaurant off Blue Bell Hill in Aylesford has died after contracting coronavirus. Michael (Mickey) Schembri was only 62 when he passed away on December 30. Michael Schembri, founder of Mickey s Diner Mr Schembri had a torrid last few months to an otherwise rich and fulfilling life. In November last year he had an accident at home when he was using an angle grinder; the blade slipped and severely lacerated his arm. As a result he was put on antibiotics, but Mr Schembri had a violent reaction to one of the drugs that affected his liver, necessitating a week s stay in St Thomas s Hospital in London.
