A CARDIGAN man found guilty of a string of animal welfare offences and several other charges has been sent to prison for 18 weeks and banned from keeping animals. Toby William Holland, of Blaenporth, Cardigan, was back before the court at Aberyswyth Justice Centre for sentencing after being found guilty of 10 offences at an earlier hearing, having been remanded in custody. Animal welfare officers of Ceredigion Council’s public protection team visited the farm on January 29, 2019 and found a number of animal welfare issues. A sheep was found to be lying on its back unable to move and it was evident that it had been there for some time.

A farmer has been jailed after pigs and sheep were found starved to death on a farm in west Wales.
An alleged-drug driver failed to appear at court AN arrest warrant has been issued for a Sheffield man who failed to appear in court on an alleged drug-driving charge on the main Ceredigion coast road at Cardigan. Kevin James Brownhill, of Pam Lane, Sheffield, is alleged to have driven an Audi A3 on the A487 at Blaenporth, Cardigan, on June 28 when the proportion of cannabis in his bloodstream, namely 4.7 microgrammes per litre of blood, exceeded the specified legal limit of two microgrammes. Magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre issued an arrest warrant without bail for the 39-year-old.
