India Business News: Canadian software player BlackBerry Limited has opened its largest centre of excellence, engineering and innovation for its IoT (internet of things) division outside Canada in Hyderabad with a capacity to accommodate 180-200 techies. The CoE will serve as the Asia Pacific hub for BlackBerry QNX global developer network.
After Canada, the India Center of Excellence (CoE) is now the second largest for the BlackBerry IoT division globally, hosting teams of embedded software engineers across a wide range of technology positions and skill sets, including senior management, technical project management, product engineering, cloud software development, integration, and service delivery, it said.
Blackberry: The company, which also makes the QNX and IVY platforms used in automotive applications, in December scrapped its initial public offering (IPO) plans for its Internet of Things (IoT) business, but still expects to split the IoT and cybersecurity businesses into fully standalone divisions.
