We caught a glimpse of Illinois Black Panther Party Chairman Fred Hampton in Aaron Sorkin’s superb and spiritually truthful “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” with Kelvin Harrison’s Hampton advising fellow Black Panther Bobby Seale early in the trial.
In the equally powerful and resonant “Judas and the Black Messiah,” we’re back in the Chicago of the late 1960s, but this time the focus is on Hampton’s rapid rise through the Black Panther ranks and the coordinated efforts by national and local law enforcement to stop him by any means necessary, resulting in the notorious predawn raid when Hampton and Mark Clark were shot to death by Chicago police.

Do you know why Diana Prince was called Wonder Woman? Because we all wondered what she was going to do next. I know, it’s a terrible joke, but there was a great deal of talk about what was next for the character and, in pandemic times, when and how we’d be seeing the finished film. Now that we know what Diana Prince’s next moves are, I’m wondering about something else. Where did the wonder go?

NEW YORK If Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was told nearly a decade ago that he’d trade in reading blueprints for movie scripts while he worked as a city planner in the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community, he’d start checking his watch.

âIâve always believed that I could have multiple lives and that I was supposed to do something bigger than whatever it is that I was doing. I was always a dreamer,â said the 34-year-old. âI would be excited about it â Iâd have no idea how it was going to happen, but Iâd be interested in going to figure out the path.â
