Dallas Restaurants That Are Open or Closed Due to Weather

Dallas Restaurants That Are Open or Closed Due to Weather Or due to lack of electricity. Or both! By Rosin Saez Published in Food & Drink February 16, 2021 12:55 pm Freezing temperatures and dangerous driving conditions among a slurry of other weather- and power-related problems have caused several Dallas restaurants to close. Many shuttered their doors ahead of the snowy weekend and have yet to creak them back open. Some restaurants, cafes, and the like are braving the roads to reopen Tuesday, likely with limited hours. We’ll keep updating this list as much as possible as the days go on. Drop a comment or email me at [email protected] for leads.

Dallas Croissant Bakers Give Us Something to Celebrate

In case you needed an excuse to explore butter-rich layers of perfectly crisp yet succulently soft dough smushed into thin sheets then rolled a quarter-moon shape, National Croissant Day is this Saturday, Jan. 30. And what a city to live in to celebrate pastries. Our cup runneth over with chefs dedicated to the art of temperature-controlled butter resulting in perfect honeycomb structures. La Tarte Tropézienne I met the owners of the Dallas’ La Tarte Tropézienne just before they were scheduled to open last January. I loved their story: They’d talked the owners of the original bakery in St. Tropez, France, into allowing them to open the first bakery outside of France. And right here in Dallas. Ouf! But, then COVID-19 hit, and while their small store adjacent The Joule hotel hasn’t flowered into its full limelight yet, the baking goes on. Eat This: Passion Fruit-Milk Chocolate Cake at Bisous Bisous

“I really just wanted to do something that’s not the same old heart-shaped cuties,” says Bisous owner and chef Andrea Meyer. “It still has a cute aesthetic. I wanted something with a little more elevated flavor this year. I really want to do more flavor combinations. I want the staff to think that way.” It’s a beauty of a thing, whether you get a 10-inch cake ($109) or a 4-inch ($45), which Meyer notes is basically a generous single serving. Layers of chocolate cake bring together a smooth chocolate buttercream and a gentle passion fruit curd. Because it’s Bisous, macarons top the cake, chocolate and passion fruit in flavor.
