The state’s higher education department has show caused several private universities for non-compliance with the government norms and taken steps for cancellation of permission to institutes found grossly violating the rules. A committee has reviewed the private universities on the compliance of norms and based on its report, the government has categorised the private universities as mild, moderate and gross violators. The government will cancel the permission of gross violators and has issued show cause notices to others. The department has prepared the draft of The Jharkhand Private Universities Bill which, if approved, would apply to all private universities.
