Boston Red Sox top outfield prospect Jarren Duran went 2-for-5 with a home run, double and four RBIs to lead Criollos de Caguas to a 7-3 victory over Indios de Mayaguez in Game 3 of the Puerto Rican Winter Ball finals.

“We have a number of outfielders who are all good enough athletes to play center field,” Bloom said Dec. 14. “But we still have room to augment that with a center fielder or with a corner outfielder.”
But as the roster stands right now, Bloom said Verdugo, Andrew Benintendi and Hunter Renfroe all are capable of playing center field and Verdugo is the most suited.

Caleb Simpson has undergone four surgeries since the San Francisco Giants drafted him in 2013, but he is throwing better than ever at 29 years old.
The right-handed relief pitcher appeared in only 14 games (14 ⅓ innings) from 2013-16. He slipped a disc in his neck in 2013. He had a bone marrow transfusion (elbow) surgery in 2014, then Tommy John surgery in 2015. He underwent labrum surgery in 2016. He underwent a procedure to repair a torn lat in 2018.

RA12 is an expansion team that consists of mostly lower-level minor leaguers.
Duran is 9-for-36 (.250) with one double, 10 runs, six RBIs, 10 walks and six stolen bases in 11 games for Caguas. He has reached base 19 times in 49 plate appearances (.388 on-base percentage).
Duran, who turned 24 in September and is Boston’s top-ranked outfield prospect, is expected to begin the 2021 season at Triple-A Worcester. He’ll likely make his major league debut at some point in 2021 but chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom won’t rush him.
