The risk of damaging winds, hail, and possible tornadoes stretches from the Central Plains to the gulf coast. The system is made up of a string of storms. Texas, oklahoma, kansas, alabama, florida, and mississippi are at particular risk. This tornado touched down in western oklahoma last night. It was on the ground for about nine minutes. The storm also produced quarter size hail, but there were no reports of serious damage or injury. It was one of ten tornados reported yesterday, many in the oklahoma texas area. In north texas near amarillo there was flash flooding. 4 inches of rain fell there yesterday. Parts of the texas panhandle were swamped by

The event recorders. They are like black boxes the hope is they will tell investigators anything they can about amtrak train 188 as it round the sharp curve where itup ped the tracks. Turning a commute into jumped the tracks turning a simple commute into playcations. The speed limit is 50mileper hour from the federal Railroad Administration and tonight the ntsb is saying preliminarily, that the train was going faster than 100 miles an hour when it rounded the curve. And thats more than twice the speed limit. This thing happened and came out of nowhere and where i was sitting, it felt like the train one was lifted off. Reporter the bump on jeffs head is from where he bounded around as he sat in the second car. I heard a thud and thats all i remember. Reporter we did just learn that the black boxes, the event data recorders from the train that derailed here last night was recovered. It is now at the amtrak headquartelaware. Investigators are going to be bringing in more people from the ntsb in the days to come to try to figure out exactly what happened here. The mayor of philadelphia Michael Nutter held a News Conference where he expressed concern that there were people from the d. C. Area on board that train when it derailed last night. The train took off from Union Station after 7 00. We know 6 people have been confirmed dead and right now not everyone has been coted for. Some 243 people on board that plane, more than 200 people treated at area hospitals but we dont know that everyone has been accounted for at this point.
