Giacomo would be honored to know of the celebration held in his name. He would have been more honored to tell about the kindness shown to him by the Red Lake Nation and other Indigenous people along his journey.
Early on, Bemidji area residents recognized the qualities of the area which drew both city residents and visitors to its lakes. With the beautiful landscape, excellent fishing and hunting, and healthy air, tourism was a popular investment and a draw for people from Grand Forks, Minneapolis, and other cities and states.
A limb fell from our family tree on 30 September 2022. Victor’s quiet, gentle influence and sense of humor is already missed. Born in Winona, MN to Hazel Eloise Ibertson and Victor Arnold Lynne Sr. on 26 April 1926, the family later moved to Bemidji where Victor attended Central Elementary, graduated from Bemidji High School, attended Bemidji State Teachers College and Minot State College. He enlisted in the Navy in 1944, serving in Samar, Philippines on construction of Fleet Hospital 114.
