jenna: all right. thanks, harris. jon: the controversy will not tie down after national public radio fired juan williams for comments he made on the o reilly factor. jenna: hi, everybody, i m jenna lee. welcome to the second hour of happening now . jon: and i m jon scott. here s what williams said monday night on the factor in regard to muslims. take a listen. look, bill, i m not a bigot, but when i get on a plane, i gotta tell you, if i see people who are in muslim garb and i think, you know, they re identifying themselves first and foremost asmus limbs, i get worried. i get nervous. jon: joining us on the phone, bill o reilly. you heard him say it, bill, did you think it was a fire bl offense? no, it s ridiculous. this is a travesty of a mockery of a sham. but it s not out of character for npr. they ve been trying to get rid of juan for a while because juan is associated with the fox news
number three, juan s going to get a big book contract out of this, and so he s not going to get hurt economically because he ll be able to write a book about this, and people would read that book. so he s okay there, i think. and number four, fox news is going to stand by juan. obviously, welcome welcome juan, very good to us and, again, he s a liberal guy. this is just such an appalling situation, and again, i think both conservatives and liberals know this is wrong. jon: he is a great guy as well, one of the real gentlemen around here. we appreciate it. bill o reilly, looking forward to seeing you on the the factor tonight with juan. bill will have that one-on-one interview with juan williams tonight at 8 p.m. eastern time right here on fox news channel. jenna: right now we re waiting for president obama s arrival at a private home in seattle where he s going to focus on the economy and also on issues relevant to women. with midterm elections 12 days away, the white house is making a
i think that the u.s. congress should investigate npr and consider cutting off their money. i think the whole idea that if you honestly say how you feel about islam and about what he said was very balanced. people should read what he actually said. the idea that that is the excuse for national public radio to sense or juan williams i think is an outrage, and every listener to npr should be enraged that there is this kind of by as against an american. jenna: it looks like a lot of thank yous from our viewers through our chat and email. mr. speaker i hope you re okay, it s dry out there in phoenix. jon: he s going to have to get his voice back. jenna: it wasn t too hot, right the hot seat? it was all right. you d come back into the hot seat. reporter: we ll come back and do it again. you have my word. jenna: thank you so much. reporter: thank you. jon: right now a hearing on capitol hill, one-time pay czar ken feinberg is in the political
easier. harris is watching our live chat, our blog, your tweets and emails, lots of questions coming in or our town hall usa segment coming up in the next hour. reporter: go to foxnews.com go to our front page, look for the beautiful picture of jon and general a click on it. go to happening now, halfway down the page on the right hand page there is a clickable portion that takes you right to the live chat. we ve seen things cool this morning. three different wave of topics taking over the chat. bill, how can anybody implement it if nobody has read all the way through it. then you saw a big push for juan williams, michelle saying how about if we fill a page of this shot of one line each of fox viewers support for juan williams. the last thing has to do with congress and how it will work. harris please ask the panel when they come up if veto-proof
potentially doing that if republicans take the house? reporter: i don t think we have any way of knowing. if this election is as devastating to democrats as the current polling data indicates and if the economy continues to lag the way it has for the last two years president obama is going to face an enormous decision, does he follow bill clinton towards the center, something which he has publicly said he does not want to do, or does he pretend he s harry true man, stick to the far left and hope that he can attack the republican congress enough to get reelected. i think that will be probably in some ways the biggest decision of his presidency, and i don t think any of us can tell right now which one he ll do. jon: newt gingrich stick around. jenna: mr. speaker, we have a ton of questions for you. will you run for president in 2012? who do you think should be speaker of the house? what do you think about the juan williams incident. stand by you re going in the hot
