Brought up the false dichotomy of what goes to the teachers and what goes to the students. But we are indivisible. Our working conditions are our Students Learning conditions. 50 percent, as was mentioned, of new teachers leave San Francisco within the first 5 years. Thats basically because theres not enough compensation and benefits to keep people here, there certainly is a lack of housing, but also there isnt enough support for educators in the most Challenging School community. We in no way want to undermine the resources to do the most important work that all of us face day in and day out in San Francisco. The final point, and president fuer brought this up, is that of housing.
