Hästens makes furniture debut
Swedish sleep specialist Hästens unveils its inaugural collection of furniture, designed by Bernadotte & Kylberg and featuring benches and nightstands with graphic intarsia motifs

Hästens is known globally as one of the best makers of exquisite beds, but now the Swedish company has made its first foray into furniture, with a series of storage benches and nightstands by design duo Bernadotte & Kylberg. Produced in collaboration with furniture workshop Tre Sekel, the collection draws inspiration from Hästens’ distinctive white and blue chequered motif, rendered on the wooden furniture through hand-laid ash and walnut intarsia patterns.
NJRD, Miniforms and Mattiazzi showcase products on Dezeen Showroom
Swedish lifestyle brand NJRD and Italian furniture brands Miniforms and Mattiazzi are among brands showcasing products on Dezeen Showroom this week.
Furniture including lighting, seating, desks and rugs have been added to Dezeen Showroom, which is an affordable space for brands to launch products and showcase their designers and projects.

Stripes is a collection of graphic rugs created by Swedish designers Bernadotte & Kylberg for their lifestyle brand NJRD.
The rugs, which feature contrasting lines of colour arranged in geometric patterns, are made from 100 per cent New Zealand wool.

Dezeen Showroom: Swedish design duo Bernadotte & Kylberg has created Lines, a homeware collection made from Vitro porcelain, for their new lifestyle brand NJRD.
The Lines range has a contemporary, minimal feel and combines two different glazes, which serve both an aesthetic and a practical purpose.

Many of the pieces are glossy on the inside and matte on the outside, in a bid to create what NJRD calls tactile, visual experiences .
Defined grooves around the exterior of bowls and jugs, as well as along the rim of plates, create comfortable places to grip the objects and make them interesting to look at.

Dezeen Showroom: Stripes is a graphic wool rug collection created by Swedish design duo Bernadotte & Kylberg for their lifestyle brand NJRD.
As its name would suggest, Stripes features bands of contrasting colour arranged in geometric patterns that were informed by Scandinavian minimalism and cubism.
The collection is made of wool Besides the clear-cut lines, we have taken two paths in terms of the colour palette. One is a more stark, graphic profile in black, white and grey, and the other – just as graphic – but with distinct, warm elements of colour, said Bernadotte & Kylberg. We strive to create tactile, visual experiences, which is why the rugs come both woven and tufted, and the throws are a jacquard weave with a distinct back and front side.
