NEW LONDON The New London-Spicer School Board had more regular meetings without a full board last year than meetings where all seven members were present.
Area communities are looking to housing development strategies to address a growing need, and public-private partnerships have been invaluable in creating new housing projects. That public assistance helps bridge a gap that has been more than a decade in the making between the costs of construction and development and market values in rural communities.
Because of spacing requirements, musicians do not have a partner sharing a music stand. Lawatsch joked that he’s going to have to learn how to count better without having a partner to lean on. “It’s different from what we’re used to,” he said.
Under the direction of Stephen Ramsey, who travels to Willmar from the Twin Cities, the orchestra will continue weekly rehearsals and will perform a free concert May 15 at WEAC, when the 2021 winners of the Young Artist award will play with the group.
To make up for lost time, the orchestra is considering playing a couple concerts this summer before resuming the fall rehearsal schedule in September.

Case reports dating back to the mid-1970s were read by the Willmar Police Department Cold Case Review Team to help determine the primary suspect in the 1974 killing of Mabel Mae Agnes Boyer Herman this past July.
