LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Veterans of Foreign Wars Lubbock hosted a ceremony on Saturday for the family of a World War II veteran who went missing in action in 1941.
The ceremony took place at the Lubbock VFW building. A Purple Heart medal and U.S. flag were presented to U.S. Army Air Corps Staff Sergeant Harvey Lee Cartrite’s youngest brother, Kent.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Wednesday morning the Lubbock Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) group held a ceremony to âswear-inâ a new member. Roy Spencer Miller is a navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War.
âItâs so special for him because heâs a Vietnam vet, who never really came home. Even though he came home back in 1972/73, he really didnât come home,â said Benny Guerrero, Commander VFW Lubbock. âToday, welcoming him to the VFW was our way of saying âwelcome home. Youâre home.ââ
