Green Bay vicar general Daniel Felton appointed the bishop of Duluth
GREEN BAY - The vicar general of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay will become the 10th bishop of the Diocese of Duluth, Minnesota.
Pope Francis appointed Father Daniel Felton as Duluth s bishop. He will be ordained a bishop and installed in the diocese in Duluth during Mass on May 20.
Felton has been the vicar general and moderator of the curia for the Green Bay diocese since July 2014. Bishop-elect Felton, a native of the diocese of Green Bay, has excelled in his service to this diocese in the many positions he has held and has been a trusted adviser in his role as vicar general and moderator of the curia, Bishop David L. Ricken said in a news release. His presence, ministry and expertise will be sorely missed here, but he will bring many gifts to the faithful of the Diocese of Duluth.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is telling vaccine providers not to administer the Johnson & Johnson shot while federal health authorities investigate an extremely rare but severe blood-clotting reaction.
Providers should keep the vaccine until a federal review has been completed, DHS secretary-designee Karen Timberlake said in a Tuesday statement.
Earlier Tuesday, federal health officials recommended an immediate halt to injections of the single-dose vaccine after six people in the U.S. developed a blood-clotting condition known as cerebral venous sinus thrombosis within two weeks of being vaccinated.
One woman died and one has been hospitalized in critical condition, The New York Times reported. All six cases were women between the ages of 18 and 48.
