The American University of Nigeria(AUN) has announced the reappointment of Maggie Ensign as President/Vice-Chancellor, with effect from June 1, 2021.
Dr. Ensign, who on May 14 announced her resignation as President of Dickinson College, one of the oldest and most distinguished liberal arts universities in the United States, had first served as President of AUN from 2010 to 2017 before departing to take up the presidency at Dickinson College.
The Chairman of AUN’s Governing Council, Ben Obi, a former senator, who announced the reappointment on Tuesday, said the Board and Council are fully confident that Dr. Ensign has the very best credentials and experience to lead the university through this critical stage in its development and pledged their unstinting support for her success.

A former Nigerian ambassador, George Obiozor, has been elected as the new President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation.
Mr Obiozor, a former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Israel and Cyprus, polled 304 votes to defeat his closest rival, Valentine Oparaocha, who polled 15 votes.
The election took place at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, capital of Imo State.
It followed a motion by A. B. C. Nwosu, seconded by Ben Obi, dissolving the John Nwodo-led executive of the organisation.

Midway into the expanded meeting of the Imeobi (the highest organ of Ohanaeze), Obiozor began to exhibit unusual behavior. He was escorted out of the hall where the meeting was taking place at the Nike Lake Resort, Enugu.
It was gathered that as he was being escorted out, he suddenly slumped and passed out. He was driven away unconscious to an unknown destination in an unmarked SUV.
