COVID-19 has raised our awareness of many challenges, and digital inequity is one that has surfaced to the top. A group of Manchester organizations stepped up to partner with local financial institutions to help close the technology divide among Manchester’s students of low to middle income families.
Manchester Proud, National Collaborative for Digital Equity and Southern New Hampshire University joined forces to assist those children, their families and schools by establishing Operation Lemonade. After consulting with the Manchester School District on student need for computers for remote learning, the partnership reached out to local financial institutions for much needed help.

MANCHESTER, NH – SEE Science Center is announcing two events where you can socialize safely this spring.
SEE Science Center will host the 20
th Annual Champagne Putt mini-golf tournament during April of 2021. The in-person event is presented by Bellwether Community Credit Union and will be spread over 3 nights, April 6, 7 and 8, in following best practices and CDC guidelines. The event will take place in SEE’s 17,500 SF exhibit halls with its newly renovated HVAC/fresh air system. Masking will be required, and teams will be screened upon entry and asked to practice social distancing on the course. Each night, a winning team will be crowned, and the over-all tournament champion will be announced April 8.

Bellwether Community Credit Union celebrates 100 years of financial services commitment
MANCHESTER, NH (January 29, 2021)
The year was 1921. Warren Harding was president, gasoline was 10 cents per gallon, the New York Giants won the World Series and the now Bellwether Community Credit Union was established.
In the early 1900s, many of the Bell Telephone staff could not obtain credit or were forced to obtain loans from disreputable lenders who charged unreasonable interest or imposed excessive fines. Seeing the need to provide reputable financial services, a group of Bell Telephone System employees organized the Telephone Workers Credit Union of New Hampshire in June of 1921. They encouraged thrift among its members to accumulate savings. Those funds were used to make loans at a low rate with little fees under the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.”
