The cemetery lies about 120 miles north of his native town of Cape Girardeau in Missouri. It was reported that the cemetery was closed to the public for several hours on Wednesday while around 40 family members and dignitaries had to pass through security before being allowed on the grounds. Republican Missouri Governor Mike Parson said “Missouri’s native son Rush Limbaugh was laid to rest today,” and added, “Rush’s legacy in our state and across the nation will not be forgotten.” Limbaugh came out about his diagnosis and struggled with a year-long battle with stage 4 lung cancer, according to reports. As one of the most influential conservative commentators of all time, he is believed to have helped shape modern conservatism and he had also reportedly become spiritual at the end.
