Cuba thanks Belize for $200,000 donation

“Cuba thanked the government and people of Belize for the donation shipment, a sign of excellent ties of friendship and solidarity that bind our sister countries,” said the Cuban Foreign Ministry on its official Twitter account on Saturday. The Belize statement on the donation was posted alongside the Cuban appreciation tweet.

Jul 9, 2021 PM Meets With UN Secretary General The Prime Minister has met with the United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres, at UN Headquarters in New York. According to a release from the Government of Belize Press Office, among the issues raised by PM Briceño is the need for concessionary financing for Small Island Developing States for post COVID-19 pandemic recovery and Belize’s counter-memorial to be filed at the International Court Justice and bilateral relations with Guatemala. The Secretary General reiterated his commitment to recommending raising financial assistance for climate change adaptation to fifty percent.  On the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, the Secretary-General has called for the production and distribution of eleven billion vaccines to all developing countries. The two men also exchanged views on the delicate situation in Haiti and noted the need for an urgent resolution of the crisis.
