Bedford County Parks and Recreation holds "Thrive Outside Festival" for the first time kick off the outdoor season and introduce residents to local vendors, farms, nonprofits, gear, shops and camps. Lee Wittekind, outdoor events and outreach coordinator, said he spent the better part of a year talking to the community and learning what the needs are; and the overall feedback he received revolved around residents hearing about events too late or not knowing about them at all.
