Well, it is a remote area, and the roads up here are thats the thing. When you hear about evacuations up here, the biggest concern is that there are a lot of, like, onelane roads up here, and a lot of Construction Since the flooding of last year, and there were a lot of mud slides and if you are driving in the Santa Cruz Mountains, you will be dealing with construction, and thats when a lot of construction crews are working. So that could be a big concern. So with evacuations kind of i think all on our minds with everything that happened up there in the north bay, those are such extreme conditions, but up here in the middle of the night, thats a concern because people with sleeping. Creek road. Right now, evacuees are gathering at Boulder Creek elementary school. We have one crew at the makeshift shelter. You see the live photo of that right now. The mandatory Evacuation Order is affecting more than 100 people. All of them had to leave their homes in a scramble in the middle of the night. Again, looking live at one of the Evacuation Centers, Boulder Creek elementary school. Firefighters are telling people whose homes are not under mandatory evacuation they should leave if they feel they are in danger. Very important, do not wait for an official order. Leave if you feel unsafe. Boulder Creek Elementary School is the designated elementary school. Some folks arrived there around 2 00 this morning. A friend came banging, saying, the sheriff is here. Night in these steep canyons, we have an access issues and as you can see behind me theres steep and rugged terrain. Reporter about 125 acres have burned and they say about 150 residences have been evacuated. The santa cruz Sheriffs Department is going door to door trying to get people out. They say there are about 150 of those homes that they are trying to get to to get out of the area those are mandatory evacuations this he also you say if anybody is in the peripheral area of this fire, las couple brass area is part of the place that has been evacuated as well. If you are not in the evacuation area but if you feel unsafe and then theyre saying go ahead and leave the area. There are road blocks out here on highway 9 and also on bear creek road. You can get out on highway 9, they stopped that construction so people can leave but if you do leave they are not letting people up into the area. Burning southwest of saratoga and los gatos and north of ben lowman. We want to look at where that fire started. The flames sprung up overnight at deer creek road and bear creek road. We have people calling into the news room. Evacuees are gathering at Boulder Creek Elementary School. We did talk with the School District leader. They are ready for as many people as need to arrive there. At this point, they have 1015 people there. Those mandatory evacuation orders are affecting more than 100 people.
