“Three men were sledding in the area of the bowl when one got stuck,” said police. “As they were about to extract the snowmobile, an avalanche swept all three men away.”

As British Columbia heads into one of its first warm spells of the year, forecasters are warning the heat could raise avalanche and flood risks, while the danger of wildfires has already nudged up to a "moderate" rating in some parts of the province.
The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the fatality and the launch of an investigation. The disaster took place on Tuesday, roughly 150 kilometres north of Stewart, B.C.
