All three of Truex’s three Martinsville wins in the NASCAR Cup Series have come in his time at JGR, now in its sixth season. He has a total of four top-five finishes with the team at the .526-mile paperclip-shaped oval.
Truex is still seeking his first Atlanta win, old configuration or new. Among his 28 starts at Atlanta, Truex has finished second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th in Cup Series races during his career at the 1.5-mile oval.
Entering his sixth season under the Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) banner, Truex has become quite the short-track ace during his first five seasons with JGR’s No. 19 team.
Heading to Sunday’s Season Finale 500k at Phoenix, Truex sits 12th in the driver standings that were reset after last weekend’s third and final Round of 8 playoff race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.
Heading to the second race in the Round of 8 of the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, Truex sits fourth in the standings with 4,071 points, three above the top-four cutline.
