Glasgow EPB looking at TVA contract

GLASGOW – The Glasgow Electric Plant Board has agreed to hire a Lexington-based law firm to look into the possibility of receiving an additional 90 days to review a flexibility agreement that is part of a 20-year contract with the Tennessee Valley Authority. The EPB originally had 90 days to consider the flexibility agreement, but it was signed without the full board getting an opportunity to review it. In a letter to Glasgow attorney Ron Hampton, who represents the EPB, the TVA said flexibility agreements enable local public companies, such as the EPB, to generate part of their own energy and provide generation services to customers.

International battery maker purchases Glasgow facility

GLASGOW – A new company plans to move into the former LSC Communications Inc. property on Glasgow’s Donnelley Drive. Contemporary Amperex Technology Kentucky LLC, which is based in Fujian, China, and manufactures lithium-ion batteries for the automotive industry, purchased the LSC property for $8.5 million. Minutes from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority’s June 25 meeting listed the project as a Kentucky Business Investment Program preliminary project and said CATL was considering establishing a facility in Glasgow with a projected investment of $97.7 million. Documents on file at the Barren County Clerk’s Office shows the property transfer to be between LSC Communications Inc. and Contemporary Amperex Technology Kentucky LLC for $8.5 million.
