Rainbow trout ready for local anglers COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is continuing to release thousands of rainbow trout in Ohio lakes. Rainbow trout releases started in March and continue through May. Rainbow trout releases were completed last week for Blue Rock Lake in Muskingum County, Wolf Run Lake in Noble County, New Lexington Reservoir 1A in Perry County, Belmont Lake and Barnesville Reservoir #3 in Belmont County and Monroe Lake in Monroe County. Just over 80,000 rainbow trout are released every spring in many Ohio public lakes and ponds. The fish are raised at state fish hatcheries and measure 10 to 13 inches before they are released by the ODNR Division of Wildlife.
