From Living In A Homeless Shelter To Making $4 Million A Year: How Samantha Franz Built A Sweatsuit Empire

10:42am EST| From Living In A Homeless Shelter To Making $4 Million A Year: How Samantha Franz Built A Sweatsuit Empire Share to Facebook Share to Linkedin The nostalgic vibe and our overall ethos message of being kind and positive to people has really made our brand stand out, says Samantha Franz, pictured in her Los Angeles office. By Samii Ryan As Americans have traded cubicles for couches and suits for sweats, Samantha Franz’s business has been booming. The 29-year-old founder and CEO of sweatsuit brand By Samii Ryan made $4 million in revenue in 2020, up 650% from 2019, thanks, in part, to stay-at-home orders and a laundry list of celebrity clients including Addison Rae Easterling, Hailey Bieber and Lil Nas X. She’s capitalized on pandemic-era nostalgia with her ’90s-inspired apparel, becoming a near-millionaire in the process, but she’s not wistful for her own childhood.

Restaurant and hospitality workers brace for woeful winter

It has been just about a week since Gov. Tom Wolf issued his order to shut down indoor dining across the commonwealth, and the impact on industry workers is already palpable, especially in light of the rapidly approaching holidays. Wolf’s directive, one of several mitigation efforts put into effect Dec. 12, dealt a substantial blow to the already heavily impacted world of restaurants and bars in Pennsylvania. While outdoor dining, food and alcohol takeout still are permitted, thousands of servers, hosts and hostesses, bartenders and other employees have found themselves unemployed or severely underemployed. Dustie Heller has been a server at Barley Creek Brewing Company in Tannersville for four years, and usually makes what she considers a great income. Now, she works only about a quarter of the hours she previously did.
