TROY, N.Y. â The Downtown Troy Business Improvement District (BID) held the ninth annual Sammy Awards on Wednesday evening. Due to the pandemic, the event was virtual. The awards ceremony was emceed by Katie Hammon, BID executive director, and hosted at the Troy Innovation Garage.
In addition to the usual categories of New Business of the Year, Established Business of the Year, and the Sammy Spirit Award, this year featured a new category, the Pivot Award.Â
The New Business of The Year award is presented to a business that has opened within the past year (2020) that has proven to be a stand-out in the downtown district and immersed themselves in the downtown community. This year s nominees were Bova Beauty Bar, Jacob Alejandro, and Primo Botanica.
