In an online press briefing, Bar chair and Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen said at 8 a.m., 11,378 took the examination out of the 11,790 who paid application fees. The second day will be on Sunday. Due to health protocols against Covid-19, the vaccinated examinees were segregated from the unvaccinated. This year's Bar exam marked the first time that it was held in multiple venues, shortened to two days instead of the usual four, and conducted digitally with examinees bringing their own lapt

1st day of Bar Exams in Cebu goes on smoothly

Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla, Cebu City Police Office deputy director for operations, said in a presser that authorities recorded no untoward incidents in the vicinity of the University of Cebu-Banilad Campus and the University of San Jose Recoletos-Basak Campus where the first Bar Exam in Cebu is being held. "We don't allow supporters or even members of the families and relatives and even representatives of their law schools to stay near the entrance gates of the two universities," Parilla said. The police deployed 200 police personnel to secure the areas of Banilad and Basak starting at 3 a.m. The two schools were allowed to open their gates half an hour later and let the Bar examinees come in early, Parilla said. Bar examinees, supporters told to scrap send-off activities

(File photo) MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday urged Bar examinees and their supporters to refrain from holding send-off activities in compliance with health protocols amid the coronavirus pandemic. "We also discourage send-offs of the exam takers to avoid any gathering or convergence of people. We have to focus on how we can conduct the bar exams in a safe and peaceful way," PNP chief, Gen. Dionardo Carlos said a statement, ahead of the conduct of the examinations on February 4 and 6. Carlos also reminded examinees to strictly follow the health protocol before, during, and after taking every examination. The PNP will deploy about 200 police officers in three university campuses in Cebu that will host the pilot implementation of the exams for aspiring lawyers outside Metro Manila.
