Odisha to start boating facility at 100 tourist spots by December.
With an aim to boost the tourism sector, the Odisha government has decided to start boating facilities at 100 water tracks by December this year.
During a virtual meeting on Friday, Chief Secretary SC Mahapatra directed the departments of forest and environment, water resources and tourism to identify around 100 spots for starting the boating facilities and submit the final list within a month.
Mahapatra also directed the concerned officials to set the floating jetties and boats in quick sessions, and the activities should start by December this year.
He further said that the locations should be identified on the basis of their competitiveness for being popular in the tourism market and for offering exotic experiences to the tourists.

Senior police officers in Maoist-hit Malkangiri district on Monday.
BHUBANESWAR: Upping the ante against Maoists, the Odisha Police have decided to set up new company operating bases (COBs) with the help of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF) in Naxal hotbeds, especially in Malkangiri, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Koraput districts.
Director general of police Abhay, intelligence director R K Sharma and inspector general (operations) Amitabh Thakur among other senior police officers on Monday toured Malkangiri, Kalahandi and Koraput districts and discussed with CRPF and BSF officials regarding establishment of the new COBs.
Abhay’s review in the left-wing extremism (LWE)-affected areas came in the wake of the killing of two Maoists in Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district on Sunday and death of another Maoist in Kandhamal district on Friday.
