The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) has granted a 50 million US dollar facility to the Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) to support Ghana’s road infrastructure development. The President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EBID, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, and the Managing Director of CBG, Mr. Daniel Wilson Addo, signed this historic deal at the Head Office of CBG in Accra, Ghana.
The granting of this line of credit embodies EBID’s development commitments in the ECOWAS member states to address the huge infrastructure deficit within the sub-region. This is in alignment with Ghana’s developmental agenda to boost socio-economic growth with the improvement of road infrastructure as a key driver. Consequently, this line of credit to CBG will provide an impetus to bolster the government’s development initiatives.

The Parliamentary ad hoc committee probing the collapse of Unibank Ghana Limited and UT Bank has asked the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to submit its response to the issues raised by the petitioners by Tuesday, May 18, 2021.
As such, the committee has also directed its clerk to make copies of the petitions available to the central bank.
Upon receiving the responses from the BoG, the committee will fix a date to determine whether the petitioners and respondent will be invited to meet the committee.
These decisions were agreed on when the committee held its second meeting on Monday, May 10, 2021.
The Parliamentary Ad hoc Committee set up to probe the collapse of Unibank Ghana Limited and UT Bank has directed the petitioners to submit all the necessary documents relating to the collapse of the banks.
In a letter addressed to the Member of Parliament of Bawku Central, Mr Mahama Ayariga, who presented the petition on behalf of the petitioners, the committee is asking that it receives the necessary documents before April 30, 2021.
“At the first meeting of the committee held on Thursday, April 22, the committee in furtherance of its mandate determined that it would require all relevant documents pertaining to the takeover, the appointment of an official administrator, the subsequent revocation of licenses of the banks of the petitioners and any other information necessary to assist the committee in the determination of the matter,” the letter, which was signed by the Clerk to the Committee, Mr Eric Owusu-Mensah, noted.
