Vaccine rollout begins as Sligo records 742 cases in just two weeks

As the county has now recorded 1,600 cases of Covid-19, and there are 36 people in hospital with the virus, the next number of weeks could see the worst of the deadly virus capabilities being realised. Sligo University Hospital is said to be under severe pressure with the number of positive cases attending and also with staff numbers struck by the virus. Of the 1,600 cases in the county, worryingly 742 of those were recorded in the 14 days from December 27th to January 9th, That figure makes up over 46% of the total cases recorded for the county since the pandemic began, showing the impact Christmas had on the spread and exponential growth of the virus within the county.
