Alabama’s beaches are booming.
Baldwin County, long one of the fastest growing counties in Alabama, has leapfrogged Montgomery as the state’s fourth largest county, according to new estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau released this week.
Baldwin County, home to Alabama’s beaches along with quickly growing cities like Daphne and Fairhope, added a whopping 47,000 people between 2010 and 2020. That’s the highest total population gain of any Alabama county over that time, according to the federal estimates. That represents a growth of 25.8 percent since 2010, also the highest in the state.
