Motutapu, which sits beside Rangitoto Island, is known for its pest-free status, scenery and flourishing bird life. It’s “a world away on your front doorstep” that provides the best opportunity to “stop and take a breath”, said Brown. A portion of ticket sales go towards the preservation of the island and its birdlife via conservation charity Project Kiwi. The festival will also offer the chance for attendees to learn about volunteer opportunities such as tree planting and pest control.
